"Trinity" Integrated Mask Overlay is a technologically advanced product. The front and sides of the mask refer to hoods used in medieval times. It is the only overlay that is commercially produced which protects larynx, shoulders and occipital bone. It fits most of the commonly used masks. A significant element of this overlay is a plastic insertion to protect the larynx from painful thrusts. Additionally, the overlay has quilted shoulder protector and a movable occipital cover which is strengthened with plastic plates. The most important aspect of this overlay is the effective neck protection.

The first time fighting using this hood was in a tournament. It provides very good protection to the throat and collarbone from cuts and really dampens the blow. The rigid plastic built-in throat protector does it's job very well. I took a thrust square on and didn't feel a thing. Cuts to the top and sides of the mask are dampened as well. Sometimes the collarbone protection flaps do tug and can sometimes be distracting. I think that the protection quality would be 5 stars if they had rigid protection along the sides of the throat. Without a gorget I use the hood and mask by itself when doing light sparring and SCA rapier, however if fighting multiple opponents or cut and thrust I wear a gorget underneath.
